Just two days after its release in the United Kingdom, The Third Man Factor has appeared at #8 on the amazon.co.uk list of History best-sellers, and #10 on amazon.co.uk's list of Biography best-sellers. In terms of all books, fiction and non-fiction in all categories, The Third Man Factor is #116.
On July 3, Britain's Daily Mail published a major feature titled " The Third Man Factor: How those in dire peril have felt a sudden presence at their side, inspiring them to survive". Written by Sarah Chalmers, the piece is a remarkable summary of the book, describing the experiences of Frank Smythe and Sir Ernest Shackleton and others, including recent examples involving Steffi Schwabe, Reinhold Messner and Ron DiFrancesco. Read more...London's Evening Standard has devoted a major spread to The Third Man Factor, a strongly positive review titled "A Ghost of a Chance" by writer William Leith. The book is full of "exciting, edge-of-seat tales," he writes. They are, he says, "ripping tales, and Geiger tells them well." The review can be found on the Evening Standard's website, and follows The Sunday Times' favourable review, and two major excerpts totalling 6,000 words in The Sunday Telegraph.
